Trustee Election Slated for Summer 2011

The Maryland State Retirement and Pension System’s Board of Trustees will hold an election in the summer of 2011 to elect a retired Teachers’ and retired Employees’ representative. Only active and retired members of the Teachers’ Systems (the Teachers’ Retirement System and Teachers’ Pension System) and Employees’ Systems (including the Correctional Officers’ Retirement System, the Employees’ Pension System, the Employees’ Retirement System, the Judges’ Retirement System, the Legislative Pension Plan, the Local Fire and Police System, or the Law Enforcement Officers’ Pension System) will be eligible to vote in this election.

The term of office for the successful candidates is August 1, 2011 through July 31, 2015.

The Board of Trustees for the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System is charged with the fiduciary responsibility for properly administering the retirement and pension allowances of more than 120,000 retirees and beneficiaries and well as the future benefits for more than 250,000 active members.
